Tomatoes, Onions and other Oklahoma Veges

I planted asparagus last year. It’s doing marvelously and provided us with two dinner’s worth of spears this spring – I anticipate more next year! :-)

My mother-in-law told me those are “weird vegetables for Oklahoma”. *laughing* I guess because I didn’t want to plant okra? I HATE okra.

So this year I planted a lot of salsa type plants – cilantro, tomatoes (especially heirloom tomatoes), jalapenos, and onions. That way I can cut out about $5-10 a week from our grocery bill. My husband goes through the salsa like crazy!
